    Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need to provide compliance documents for Approved Membership?

Bloods & Beyond is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and is required to ensure that individuals operating under the Bloods & Beyond service model meet the standards set out within our Recruitment & Selection Policy, other relevant policies, procedures and regulatory obligations.

These requirements are intended to ensure patient safety, maintain service quality and protect both members and Bloods & Beyond.

Whilst these requirements may initially appear burdensome, they enable Bloods & Beyond to manage much of the governance, compliance and quality assurance required to operate a safe and compliant service.

This allows members to focus on building their clinics, supporting their patients and undertaking blood collections, whilst Bloods & Beyond manages many of the administrative, governance and regulatory requirements behind the scenes.

How does Approved Membership keep me compliant with CQC regulations?

The most common question we receive is whether membership provides CQC registration.

    The answer is no.

Members do not become independently CQC registered through the Membership Scheme.

Instead, Bloods & Beyond is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for Diagnostic & Screening Procedures and may engage locum phlebotomists to undertake blood collection appointments on its behalf.

Where a member wishes to provide venous blood collection services through this model, the following process applies: Booking Flow

In most cases, a Approved Member is both the Clinic and the Phlebotomist.

This distinction is important because it ensures appointments continue to operate within the appropriate regulatory framework.

How do invoicing and fees work?

The Clinic is a client of Bloods & Beyond.

The Phlebotomist is a locum contractor of Bloods & Beyond.

    Invoicing Flow

At the end of each month the Member will receive (based on an example of 10 appointments at £30 per appointment):

Phlebotomist: A remittance from Bloods & Beyond
    10 × £30 = £300

Clinic: An invoice from Bloods & Beyond
    10 × £30 = £300

The remittance will be offset against the invoice, resulting in a net balance of £0 and no payment being due.

After a member has completed their annual allocation of 20 fully funded appointments, a small administration fee will be retained by Bloods & Beyond from future appointments.

In the above example, the remittance would be:

    10 × £25 = £250

This would be offset against the £300 invoice, leaving a balance of £50 payable.

The above figures are provided for illustration purposes only. Current fees and remuneration rates are published separately and may be amended from time to time.

Do I have to use a particular labratory?

    No.

Approved Members are free to work with whichever laboratories, testing providers and healthcare organisations they choose.

Members remain responsible for selecting laboratories, arranging testing services, managing their own commercial relationships, and ensuring their other services adhere to any additional legal or regulatory requirements.

The Bloods & Beyond service model facilitates the blood collection component only.

Members are free to offer any additional services they are qualified and legally permitted to provide, provided those services do not require additional regulatory approvals or registrations.

This flexibility allows members to continue working with their preferred laboratories and suppliers whilst benefiting from the Bloods & Beyond service model.

If you are not sure which lab to work with, we will be happy to match you up with one of the many labs we work with.

Do I have to accept work from Bloods & Beyond?

    No.
Members remain independent and are free to accept or decline opportunities offered by Bloods & Beyondy.

    Does membership guarantee work?

    No.

Membership provides access to support, resources, opportunities and approved service models, but does not guarantee any minimum level of work or income.
