Testimonials from Patients
a thing!
I specifically requested Bex again because she carried out my previous blood test earlier this year and was so understanding of my autism and anxiety around having blood taken. Having someone who understands that makes a huge difference to me, and Bex immediately made me feel comfortable and reassured.
The appointment was handled extremely professionally. Before starting, Bex went through everything with me and asked the necessary questions, and she was very kind, patient and reassuring throughout the whole procedure.
There was unfortunately an issue with the first attempt on my right arm. Although there was a vein, the blood simply wasn’t flowing properly despite some adjustment. This wasn’t Bex’s fault at all, and what really impressed me was how calm and reassuring she remained. She cleaned the area, reassured me and then successfully took the blood from my left arm.
Three vials were successfully collected, and the samples were also centrifuged as required. There was initially some uncertainty about the correct centrifuge settings because the information hadn’t been provided beforehand, but Bex handled this professionally by contacting Angela at Bloods and Beyond and obtaining the correct instructions rather than guessing. Everything was then completed properly and the sample kit was posted using the required tracked return service.
Bex was punctual, polite, professional, calm, patient and incredibly understanding. She never made me feel rushed or embarrassed about my anxiety, and she remained composed even when the first attempt wasn’t successful.
I genuinely wouldn’t hesitate to have Bex carry out my blood tests again. In fact, being able to request her specifically has made such a positive difference to my experience.
Thank you so much, Bex, for another excellent blood test appointment. Your kindness, professionalism and understanding really do make a difference.
I would absolutely recommend both Bex and Bloods and Beyond to anyone looking for a professional, reliable and compassionate blood-testing service. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral or doctor’s order to book a home blood test?
In most cases, yes. If your GP or clinic has ordered blood tests, simply provide the requisition form when booking. If you’re ordering a private test (e.g. a wellness panel), we’ll guide you through the available options and requirements on booking. If you don’t have a referral, we can point you in the right direction.
What should I do to prepare for my blood draw?
It depends on the type of test: some require fasting (no food or drink except water for 8–12 hours before the appointment), while others don’t. Some women’s hormonal tests need to be done at certain times in your cycle. Your clinic will tell you ahead of time if any special requirements are needed. In all cases, wear short-sleeved or roll-up sleeves, stay hydrated (especially if fasting), and have any lab forms ready for the phlebotomist.
What happens when the phlebotomist arrives?
Our phlebotomists carry digital ID cards showing their photo, full name (matching your booking), job title and contact number. You are welcome to check their ID when they arrive. Bit random {All equipment (needles, blood tubes, gauze) is single-use, and infection-control procedures follow strict hygiene standards.}
They may ask for somewhere to wash their hands, or use hand santiser, and will look for a suitable location to set their kit up, often a dining table or sofa.
Is the procedure safe and hygienic?
Yes, we follow rigorous safety and infection control protocols. Phlebotomists wash or sanitise hands before each draw, use new sterile needles and tubes for every patient, and handle waste securely.
Phlebotomists do not wear masks as standard, but they carry masks with them and are happy to wear one if you prefer. Likewise, clean hands are safer for the patient than gloves alone.
However, if you’d like the phlebotomist to wear a mask or gloves, just let them know. Your comfort and safety are our priority, and you can check out our Infection Control Policy here.
