Ready to take your first real blood sample?

This optional Live Bloods Experience is the perfect upgrade to our CPD Venepuncture Practices & Techniques course.

You’ll have already built solid confidence on vein blocks and training arms — now it’s time to put that practice into action by drawing blood from a real person, right here in our training centre.

Because our training normally takes place in GP surgeries and clinics, we can safely offer this rare opportunity — taking a sample from a fellow trainee or one of our trainers, in a supportive, clinical setting.

This “first blood” moment is a powerful confidence boost. We call it:

It’s not mandatory, but most students tell us it’s the highlight of the day — and the moment everything clicks into place.

👩‍⚕️ WHO IS IT FOR?

This upgrade is available to anyone booked onto our CPD Venepuncture Practices & Techniques course.

It’s highly recommended for beginners, career changers, and anyone who doesn’t have access to patients or volunteers in their workplace.

If you already have colleagues ready to support your practice, you may not need this add-on — but if you’re unsure, we’d always suggest including it.

🛠 EQUIPMENT

You’ll use a full range of venepuncture equipment — including needles, vacutainers, tourniquets and sharps bins — to safely take real blood from a real volunteer under direct supervision.

⏰ TIMINGS

This experience takes place after the main training course finishes.
It usually adds around 30 to 60 minutes to the day, depending on how many participants opt in.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 GROUP SIZES

We keep classes small for focused, hands-on support.
👥 Minimum: 2 learners
👥 Maximum: 8 learners

📜 ACCREDITATION

This add-on doesn’t come with a separate certificate.

However, if you complete a successful blood draw, it will be recorded on your official Record of Competency, which you can then build on in your clinic or through one of our CPD Competency Pathway courses.
