COURSE CONTENT
This paediatric phlebotomy course includes best practices and techniques to take blood from children and babies. It explores the differences between adult and paediatric phlebotomy, including:
- Consent and The Law
- Physiology
- Psychology
- Pain Relief
- Equipment
- Blood Tests
This course combines an online element with a half day face-to-face session to give you hands on experience with the equipment, and a chance to practice the techniques that are discussed in the online material. But if you cannot attend the face-to-face session, or would prefer to just complete the online content, please go to our online only course. Whichever option you choose, you will be awarded with a CPD certified certificate.
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
Experienced phlebotomists who would like to add to their existing skills to be able to take blood from children and neonates.

You will also be able to practice appropriate positioning with mannequins and training arms.

TIMINGS
This is a half day course.
This course is usually held in the morning, directly before the CPD Basic Life Support (BLS) for Phlebotomists course in the afternoon. The course starts at 09:30, and, depending on the size of the group, can continue until 12:30 or 13:00.
GROUP SIZES
Group sizes are kept small, to get the best 1:1 experience with the trainers. Minimum group size is 2. Maximum group size is 8.
ACCREDITATION
All of our courses are provided by our sister company iN phlebotomy training, and are accredited by the CPD certification service, which means they are internationally recognised as part of your portfolio of training.
This course counts as 6 CPD hours.
REFRESHMENTS
Refreshments will be provided throughout the course. Kettle and microwave facilities are also available. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.
LOCATION
Courses are either delivered in our Training Centre in Bakersfield Medical Centre in Nottingham, or Chase Health, Wimbledon Chase, London.
COURSES AT YOUR PREMISES (£700)
We can also come to your premises to train up to 6 members of staff on a day that will suit you. Courses can be tailored to meet your specific requirements. As this is a half day course, it can be combined with other courses (like a CPD Basic Life Support (BLS) for Phlebotomists or Intravenous (IV) Cannulation course) to complete a full day, or it can be run twice, back-to-back, with two separate groups of staff.
